Hermitage of Saint Eulalia of Merida (16th C) -
near Aledo (north of Totana, Murcia Province, Spain)
Considerable restoration work has been carried out, beginning in the late
19th C with the most recent
work having been done as recently as 1971. All photographs taken on 7th February

The Baroque altarpiece within the Hermitage;
there is a Mudejar coffered ceiling which is very fine (too little light
to take without 'flash')

The modern way to 'light a candle'!
(You put a coin or coins in the slot and a number of bulbs light, depending
on how much you put in.)

The monastery and hotel complex with well laid out
gardens, built around the Hermitage,
is of much more recent origin (roughly 1921 I think)
